A collection of cool viewing for you. Like everything around these parts, to unfold gradually.

(taken from VinylVulture Forum)
Cliff Adams 'When It Comes To The Crunch'
When it comes to advertising jingles, Cliff Adams was The Daddy, and he was forced to wheel out his biggest of perky pop guns to try and convince the munching public that the traditionally second division Smiths crisps were actually an exciting savory treat. When you think about it, very few activities are less compatible with strutting your stuff on the dancefloor than simultaneously chomping on a bad of cheese & onion, but still, the tunes are fabby! The vocal A-side comes across like particularly perky Georgie Fame, and the 'Rhythm & Crunch' instro on the flip is never less than a sublime brassy organ mover to die for. Possibly the most exciting thing about crisps before the advent of prawn cocktail flavour!

I love that "CRUNCH" song - great to see the picture sleeve.
I had never seen a company sleeve for ZODIAC records before. Are those easy to find in Australia / New Zealand? |

| The NZ Zodiac sleeves seem to be hard to find, and were only issued in NZ. You never, ever see them in Australia. I didn't have any at all until last year, when I uncovered a large stash of NZ ex-radio station treasure in situ. They come in black and red versions, the black ones look very cool. |

Timing is everything. I've been spinning the Wild Things - New Zealand comp a lot lately. So this thread is a brilliant complement. Thanks for the ocular jolt.
How do those Pleazers tracks stand up to "Hurtin' All over" that's on Wild Things?
And Sandy Edmonds.. whooooosh

Apart from April Byron and Wee Liz (both lesser releases) , this represents the entire DownUnder label squadron, as far as I know. Very tuff label to collect. Derek's Accent is the obvious jewell, but high marks also to the Soul Agents (Marty Rhone's 60s backing band).

By searching the web, I discovered 2 more Downunder releases by Anne Shelton, and Sandy Summers. I haven't heard these, but I assume they would be at best, girl group sounds.
Here is a great web resource for anyone interested in collecting 60s garage band music from Australia. It's extremely comprehensive.

Go to "The Collection", then "Collection Guides", and you'll be able to download the comprehensive list of Australiian 45 releases in PDF format |

This is an almost complete selection of the garage-worthy Kommotion 45s. The inclusion of Donna Gaye is dubious at best, as the Gaye 45s are strictly girl group sound, but I include them because some of the backing sounds are garage-y-cool and her bio states she was "16 years old and very, very beautiful"...

I think this must be virtually the entire garage-worthy output of the IN label.
